MEET THE TEAM
Hedin Nelson-Chorney was born with a fishing rod in his hands. A love for delicious craft beer would follow a few years later. Hedin has fished across North America for powerful bonefish on sun-soaked Caribbean flats to high mountain cutthroat trout streams and everything in between. Although fishing opportunities are endless, the angry rainbows of British Columbia are why Hedin has dug his roots into the Kootenays. Nothing can surpass an ice cold beer on the bank of a river with giant rainbows sipping dries off the surface or dredging streamers for walleye. It only seemed reasonable that Hedin would be making cold, local brews for parched anglers across the country.
Kent Kristensen, a fisheries biologist for 17 years in Western Canada and the arctic, was raised with a passion for fish and the outdoors. His father, also a fisheries biologist, exposed him to fishing at a tender age. Being lucky enough to work in pristine mountain waters in BC, Alberta, throughout the arctic, Washington State, Colorado, and eastern Russia has fueled his thirst for fishing. His joy of homebrewing, craft beer, and sharing fishing tales over a cold one with his friends, has led him to his most recent adventure of joining the Tailout Brewing team.
Originally from Southern Ontario, Mike Davidson arrived in the mountains 17 years ago and hasn’t looked back. Over time his passion for the outdoors grew, immersing himself in a variety of adventures to enjoy the wild spaces. There are few things that can bring a smile to his face like casting out to a beautiful fish, the challenge of reeling them in, the feel of a well deserved set of pow turns after a magnificent day ski touring, and of course, a cold beer with friends.
Bruce Watson caught his first fish in a small Alberta lake at the age of 5. The excitement and passion for angling only grew from there. Angling, a forum for life lessons in patience, persistence, and appreciation for the natural world have become fundamental in Bruce’s outlook on life. These days, a delicious beer to be enjoyed after a sun-up to sun-down fishing day while relaxing in a social atmosphere is his view of the best way to debrief and enjoy fellow anglers.
Travis Verbeek is a Western Canadian farm boy who has divided his time between the rolling hills of Alberta and the Great Canadian Rockies. As deep rooted as his drive to seek out and experience pure, simple nature is his appreciation for the natural world and the perspective it inspires. Through reaching out to the Southern tip of Argentina and Patagonia, South or Central America, Canada and Europe, he has always found one common, basic truth: Clear, clean rivers and lakes, crashing oceans, or jagged peaks always energize and bring us back to the fundamentals of life. It just so happens that the best way to compliment a day of hard trails or plan the next adventure is with an ice cold, craft brew.
